The collaboration originated from a shared fascination with glaze as both material and medium. Rooted in a mutual devotion to intentional design, the partnership draws connections between ILIA’s clean, high-performance approach to clean beauty and clé’s commitment to hand-crafted tile and artisanal surface design. Translating beauty inspiration into ceramic form, the exclusive range celebrates the expressive potential of glazing, ceramics, and vibrant color.
ILIA’s Overglaze Hydrating Lip Gloss is known for its luminous, high-shine finish and richly dimensional color — designed to enhance the natural lip while delivering hydration and comfort. These qualities served as the creative foundation for the tile collection, inspiring custom ceramic glazes that reflect light, depth, and movement across architectural surfaces.
The clé x ILIA collection translates the gloss’s dimensional finish and nuanced palette into handmade tile, creating surfaces that shift subtly with light and placement. Produced in-house by clé’s ceramicist as a clé Guild collaboration, each shade reflects the essence of its beauty counterpart while embracing the natural variation inherent to artisanal craftsmanship. The result reinforces clé’s belief that tile is not merely functional, but a powerful design statement.
Founded by Deborah Osburn, clé redefined how artisan tile could be experienced and specified, positioning tile as an artistic medium and pioneering a direct-to-designer model.
